We get this question a lot. Dianthus barbatus otherwise known as sweet William is a species of the flowering plant in the family Caryophyllaceae. It grows in clusters of small, five-petaled flowers with serrated edges and is a herbaceous biennial or short-lived perennial. It has become a widely popular ornamental garden plant and has beautiful vibrant colors.
